FAQ

1.Orders

You will need a valid eyeglasses prescription and your pupillary distance (PD).

Pupillary Distance(PD) is the distance measured between your pupils in millimeters. Your PD isn't usually included with your eyeglass prescription, so be sure to ask for it.

To check the status of your order, sign into your account on nerdyframes.com using your username/e-mail and password you created. Click "My Account" from the drop-down menu and then "Orders".

If you need to change something on your order, please email us as soon as possible at theTeam@nerdyframes.com. We do process orders right away, so we will do our best to accommodate any changes.



2.Try-On at Home

It's easy, just head to our "Try-On at Home" section, pick out between 3 to 5 frames and complete the checkout process. You get 7 days to try out the frames (and take as many photos as you want!) once you have received them. When you're done, slap on the return label and drop it in the mailbox.

If you have chosen a pair of frames you like and would like to buy them, return the Try-On frames (all 3 to 5 of them) and then place an order online for a brand new pair (with prescription or without, it's up to you).

You will be charged between $125 to $205 per frame (depends on frame material)  if we do not received the Try-on box. We allow up to 7 days after your 7 day trial for shipping and handling time(14 days in total). In the event that you are charged, per frame, for not returning the Try-on box within the allotted time frame, we will issue a refund automatically when the box is returned within 14 days after the charge date. We do not accept prepaid credit / debit cards for Home Try-on's. Prepaid cards can only used to place a paid order. Orders can be canceled if we are unable to verify your card (a temporary authorization).

Please note we do not ship to any warehouses even if it's your place of business or work address. We ship to home addresses and regular places of businesses such as offices and retail stores of any kind.

Please make sure your Try-on box is sealed when you ship the Try-on frames back to us. This helps prevent lost and/or theft of frames in the Try-on box. IF the box is not re-sealed, you may incur charges for damaged or stolen frames.

If a Try-on box is sent to you and is reported stolen:  You must place another order & provide a new address for reshipment. A signature will be required.

Yes, the Try-On at Home program is absolutely free with no obligation to purchase! However we do need a debit or credit card to verify that you're a real person and for security purposes (We do NOT accept prepaid credit / debit cards for try-on orders).  Orders can be canceled if we are unable to verify your card as active.

 

The box must be sealed when shipped back to us.

The only time we would charge is if the Try-On frames are not returned or are returned damaged. The charge would be $125 to $205 per frame.

If you do need extra time (more than 7 days plus 7 days for shipping & handling), just send us an email. We're flexible if you need more time.

Unfortunately no, we only send out one box at a time. If you need to try on more frames just send back the current order as soon as possible and place another Try-On Order.



3. Your RX

The short answer is: Custom Lenses. We stock lenses for some prescriptions but we custom make most prescriptions which includes high cylinder values. High cylinder stock lenses are not the best so we custom make your lenses from scratch to get the best possible vision. We are the only online prescription eyeglass company making lenses from scratch for high cylinder prescriptions and most prescriptions in general. This way your lenses come out thinner and clearer. If you do have a strong prescription please make sure to order the thinnest lenses to get the best vision possible.

Visit your local Optometrist or Ophthalmologist for your eyeglasses prescription. Be sure to get your pupillary distance before leaving (if they offer that service).

CYL: +8.00 to -8.00

4.Lenses

We offer genuine Crizal® coatings as upgrades Crizal® coatings are not done in-house.

We offer the following Optical lenses with your order:

Polycarbonate Lenses

    • Light and strong. They are 10 times more impact-resistant than plastic.
 
    • All lenses come with anti-reflective coating and UV protection.
      • We do offer Add-on's such as Blue Light Filter and Transitions® Lenses.
 
  • Used for most prescriptions within range.

 

Hi-Index 1.67 Lenses

    • Used for slightly stronger prescriptions, 1.67 lenses are thinner because of their ability to bend light more efficiently .
 
    • All lenses come with anti-reflective coating and UV protection.
      • We do offer Add-on's such as Blue Light Filter and Transitions® Lenses.

Hi- Index 1.74 Lenses

    • 1.74 lenses are the thinnest lenses ever developed and are used for very strong prescriptions.
 
    • All lenses come with anti-reflective coating and UV protection.
      • We do offer Add-on's such as Blue Light Filter and Transitions® Lenses.

YES, we got you covered!

We offer a 6 month scratch warranty on our lenses. If they get scratched or warped due to a manufacturer defect, we will replace it for you once for free within the first 6 month of purchase.

Lens replacements can take anywhere from 10 to 14 business days. *Please Note* Frames have to be sent in order for us to replace the lenses.

Most of the time new prescriptions have an adjustment period but if you feel that you're unable to see, feel free to email us at info@nerdyframes.com



5.Frames

+

Cellulose acetate! What's Cellulose acetate? It's a non-petroleum based plastic made from natural cottons and wood fibers.


While Cellulose acetate is commonly found in most plastic frames in the market, not all acetates are made equal. We use a more denser acetate which does not add any extra weight but helps maintain it's shape over time and with any frame adjustments. You'll find that cheaply made acetate will start to widen out over a small period of time, making you go in more often to get them adjusted.



6.Shipping

We generate your lenses from scratch which means orders take an average of 8 to 11 business days for single vision lenses and 12 to 15 business days for progressives/anti-fatigue lenses.

Non-prescription sunglasses and merchandise will ship within 48hrs of your order being placed.

Note: Expect delays during Holiday times as order volume increases and the office is closed for all major holidays. For example we are closed the day before and after Christmas. Email theTeam@nerdyframes for more information

Note: Occasionally issues do arise in the process of making a lenses we will keep you informed if delays occur.

We currently ship to the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and military APO/DPO/FPO addresses.



7.Getting your frames adjusted

We make sure every frame sent out is leveled to a flat surface and the temples have a natural curve, giving you the best starting point. You may need an additional adjustment to make it fit perfectly.

We currently do not have retail locations but don't fret, most optical shops would be happy to adjust your glasses for free or for a small fee. If you are charged, we will reimburse you up to $20 within the first 30 days of purchase for a single adjustment.



8.Return & Exchanges

Remakes: These materials needed for these upgrades are outsourced.
  • Upgraded Coating: Crizal® coatings will be remade if request is made with our return window.
  • Transitions® is built into the lens and require us to inspect the lenses if a problem occurs.
  • Progressive lenses remakes must be requested within our return policy window. We allow for 2 remakes if you are unhappy with your progressives. Keep in mind that remake requests must fall within our return policy window each time.

We offer hassle-free returns! You have 15 days, which begins on the day that you received your glasses to initiate a return or exchange. Not happy with your purchase? Just email us at theTeam@nerdyframes.com and we'll set you up with a refund or an exchange no questions asked. A $1.95 shipping fee will be deducted from your refund for the return label. Exchanges are shipped free both ways. Refunds will credited back to the original payment method. *Please note refunds may take anywhere from 15 to 20 business days depending on your financial institution. --------------------- Retired frames are excluded from our return policy. Upgraded Coating: Crizal® coatings are subject to a 20% recycle fee on the upgrade price if returned for refund. Transitions® are subject to a 20% recycle fee on the upgrade price if returned for refund. Progressive Lenses: Varilux Comfort Max® are subject to a 20% recycle fee on the lens upgrade price if returned for refund. (For example the upgrade price for Crizal® Easy Pro is $125, we will deduct $25 from the return refund even if a coupon/promo code was used. Another example, the upgrade price for Varilux Comfort Max® is $225, we will deduct $45 from the return even if a coupon/promo code was used. This rule applies to all upgrades mentioned above.)
Merch Items You have 7 days, which begins on the day that you received your order. No exchanges. Only returns for merch item. Not happy with your purchase? Just email us at theTeam@nerdyframes.com and we'll set you up with a refund no questions asked. A $5.00 shipping fee will be deducted from your refund for the return label.

Nerdy Frames started as a small eyewear company in NYC back in 2011 and we have now expanded to provide premium quality frames and prescription lenses at affordable prices directly to our customers, no middlemen.



Vision Insurance Information

How Insurance Reimbursement Works

Unfortunately, we don't have any direct partnerships with vision insurance providers, but we can assist you in getting a reimbursement for your purchase after you have paid in full at the time of purchase. In order to be reimbursed, you will first need to fill out a form from your insurance provider. After you fill out their reimbursement form, you will need to provide an itemized receipt, which we can provide you with once you have completed your purchase. We've provided some links below of popular vision insurance providers to help you get started.

FSA & HSA Payments

We accept both FSA and HSA payments, as long as they are in the form of a credit or debit card. After you have had completed a purchase with your FSA/HSA, you can then file for a reimbursement with your vision insurance provider.
